Energy Brix Power Station demolition
This website provides community information about the history and future of the Energy Brix (EBAC) Morwell Power Station and Briquette Works.
Once you’ve read more here on our website, feel free to ask a question.
The Energy Brix Power Station was a brown coal–fired thermal power station located in Morwell, Victoria, Australia, which operated from 1956 to 2014.
Best known as the Morwell Power Station, it was used to supply electricity for the retail market, as well as for the production of briquettes in the adjacent Briquette Works. Following the closure of Briquette A Factory in August and the Power Station in September 2014, various areas of the site have been progressively decommissioned since 2015 to reduce fire and site contamination risk.
In 2017 the final stages of demolition are due to commence. Information on stages of demolition, progress and regular updates will be available on this website.
